Is Melanotan 2 illegal ?

 The FDA has not approved Melanotan 2, and clarified: There is no such evidence that the product is recognized as safe and effective. FDA, also gave a blanket warning advising consumers to, "stop Melanotan II” This should be enough as an evidence that FDA does not approve it.

The FDA also letter to another online vendor in Jan 2009 selling Melanotan 2– As advertisements of the products on their website were on thebreak of the (federal food, drug, and cosmetic act) as the site was selling (new drug) products "planned for human use".

The Irish Medicines Board (IMB) allotted a protective safety alert on February 27, 2009 with regards to usage of "the unauthorized medicine Melanotan (I and II)", sold for injection in powder form, stating that "Melanotan 2 is not lawful in Ireland and therefore the IMB cannot promise the efficacy and how safe this product is.  They also, announced that tests had found the occurrence of microbial contamination in a vessel of water sold unruffled with Melanotan powder which "would expose receivers to a risk of serious infection".
